BitBrokerTrade works with the Coinbase Advanced Trade API. This is Coinbase’s professional trading environment. Create a key through the Advanced API menu and then add it to BitBrokerTrade. Follow the steps below.

Part 1: Create an API key in Coinbase

1

Open Advanced API

Log in to coinbase.com and click “More” in the left menu bar. On the same screen, choose the “Advanced API” option.
2

Start the new key flow

Click “Create your API key” and then “Create API key” on the next screen.
3

Configure the key in the pop-up

In the pop-up window, set the following:
  • Name: give the key a recognizable name
  • Portfolio: choose default
  • Permissions: check View and Trade
  • IP Whitelist: leave the field empty, the pre-filled address is a placeholder IP and does not need to be removed
Click “Create and download”.
4

Save the keys

A pop-up appears with your two keys: the API Key and the API Secret Key. Copy both to your notepad. You do not need to do anything with the downloaded .json file.
5

Confirm

Click “I have saved my key” to close the pop-up.

Part 2: Add the exchange in BitBrokerTrade

1

Navigate to Exchanges

Log in to BitBrokerTrade. In the left column, click Settings, then Exchanges, and then Add exchange.
2

Select Coinbase Advanced

Click the Coinbase Advanced logo to select this exchange.
3

Fill in the details and add

Enter the copied API Key and API Secret Key in the matching fields. Click Add. The connection to Coinbase Advanced is now active.
Coinbase does not require a confirmation email. The connection is active immediately after clicking Add, as long as the keys are entered correctly.

Part 3: Connect a trader

Now that the exchange has been added, connect a trader to your Coinbase account. Follow the full guide on Trader settings.
